The profundity of the “Italian School of Super High End” is far-reaching, of which the Riviera marque qualifies as a cornerstone. Riviera’s Luca asserts: The human brain autocorrects “distortions generated by the cochlea inside our ear,” beginning at 90db SPL. This is the same for all humans regardless of age and gender. (This is not to be confused with hearing ability, which differs from one to another.)   The human brain can eliminate these distortions ONLY IF it recognizes the “distortion distribution”. The shape of this is said to follow a gentle downward slope (where the X axis is the frequency range and Y axis is distortion measured in db). Our brain does not recognize any other pattern of distortion distribution even if distortions are zero.  This is why electronics made by Luca, aim at replicating the shape of the distortion distribution that our brain ordinarily corrects for us. AE founder, Chris Leung, has a full suite of Riviera Lab's flagship electronics in his home. Music is an art. Art isn’t just about colour, but contrast. Music does not solely exist in the notes but also in pauses (silence between the notes or spacing). It is intangible in physical form but tangible in human senses. Silence has the power to punctuate notes and creates a sense of anticipation.

Thus, it is also correlated with tempo, dynamic, rhythm, harmonic progression and instrumentation, which in turn holistically define the energy level of any piece of music.

Legendary jazz musician, Mile Davis said “silence is more important than sound”.
